Do You Know About the Advantages of Low Foaming Nonionic Surfactants?

图片
  1. Low foaming   nonionic surfactants Detergent is a very broad term; it includes various kinds of industrial detergents and commercial detergents. Commercial detergent is the most common type of detergent for consumers. Besides the strength of detergency and cleaning efficiency, the property of low foaming has become an important aspect in developing both commercial and industrial detergents.   2. The advantages of low foaming surfactants In industrial scale cleaning, having too much foam means more water and electricity are needed to remove the foam and thus increase in cost. Furthermore, operation speed, efficiency and service life of certain facilities and equipment might decline due to long period of time soaking in foam and detergents. A balance between detergency and foam can be achieved by adapting low foaming nonionic surfactant in detergent formulation. Low foaming nonionic surfactants have great surface activity, detergency, wettability, dispersancy and lubri...

Differences between polysorbate 20 and polysorbate 80

图片
W hat I s the D ifference B etween P olysorbate 20 and 80 ?   ynthetic Raw Materials Difference between   Polysorbate 20 and 80 Polysorbate 20 is a product of the polymerization reaction of sorbitan monolaurate and ethylene oxide, while polysorbate 20 or 80  is synthesized by the polymerization of sorbitan monooleate and ethylene oxide.   Application Difference between P olysorbate 20 80 Polysorbate 20   is known as a non-ionic stain remover because it has relatively more hydrophilic groups (polyoxyethylene), which gives it a strong hydrophilicity property. Polysorbate 20 is usually used as an oil-in-water(O/W) type emulsifier and solubilizer.   Polysorbate 80 is one of the most common polysorbates. The   polysorbate 80 emulsifier   has significant resistance to electrolyte and strong hydrophilicity, which allow it to be widely used in liquid, semisolid and solid preparations. Polysorbate 80 is used as an oil-in-water(O/W) type emulsifier, ...

Differences Between Ionic and Non-ionic Surfactants

图片
W hat I s the D ifference B etween I onic and N onionic S urfactants ? The main difference   between ionic and non ionic surfactant  is that ionic surfactants are formulated with cations or anions, while non-ionic surfactants are formulated without cations or anions.   What is Non-ionic Surfactants? I onic and nonionic  surfactants are surfactants whose main hydrophilic groups are the ether groups, which are not dissociated in an aqueous solution. Their surface activities are dependent on the neutral molecules. Non-ionic surfactants, such as the   ethoxylated sorbitol   and   sorbitan fatty acid ester, all have high surface activity, good solubilizing and cleansing properties, antistatic function, calcium soap dispersion etc. They have excellent wetting functions and relatively minor irritation. They can be used in a wider PH range than of ordinary ionic surfactants. Meanwhile, they can be used together with other ionic surfactants. That is to s...

Detection of Fatty Acids in Polysorbate 80

图片
The problem of pharmaceutical excipients has plagued domestic pharmaceutical preparation manufacturers in recent years, and the quality control of excipients has attracted the attention of regulatory agencies and manufacturers. There are specific requirements for physical and chemical testing indicators of the excipient varieties in Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and studies related to the testing of excipients which have been carried out. Here is a case to share with you: polysorbate 80 fatty acid testing.   P olysorbate 80 composition  is a nonionic surfactant, which is a polyoxyethylene 20 sorbitan  oleate polymerized from sorbitan oleate and ethylene oxide. Because polysorbate 80 has a good solubilizing effect on lipophilic drugs, it is often used as a solubilizer or emulsifier for injections and oral liquids and is a commonly used excipient for pharmaceutical preparations. Polysorbate 80 is usually a mixture, and the composition of the fatty acid part in its molecular...

Are Sorbitan Esters Safe to Be Consumed?

图片
I s S orbitan M onostearate S afe  to Be Consumed? Sorbitan esters are widely used in various food formulations in multiple countries around the world. The safety of sorbitan esters have been evaluated and approved by many countries’ food safety authorities. Sorbitan monolaurate, sorbitan monopalmitate, sorbitan monostearate, sorbitan tristearate and sorbitan monooleate are approved to be used as food additives in China, the United States, the European Union, Japan and more. E thoxylated sorbitan ester s are well studied and have been used in food manufacturing for several decades.     Using   sorbitan esters   that are up to the regulation standards with the appropriate dosages, are non-toxic and safe to be consumed. The following specifications are the critical criteria that determines the quality of sorbitan esters saponification number, acid number, hydroxyl number and oxyethylene content. It is important for food manufacturing companies to seek for s...

What is HLB value?

图片
What is HLB  value?   HLB value is the abbreviation for hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, it is the ratio between the hydrophilic portions and lipophilic portion of a surfactant. It is represented by a number between 1 and 20. An HLB value less than 6 indicates that the surfactant favors W/O emulsion; an HLB value greater than 8 favors O/W emulsion. HLB values in between 7 and 9 indicate that the surfactants are good wetting agents.   If you want to know more about non ionic emulsifier list , please visit our website.   Sorbitan ester s and Polysorbates as nonionics offer many advantages over ionic surfactants including increase stability, enhance flexibility and provide wider compatibility. They are stable in mild acids, alkalis and electrolytes and do not react with ionic ingredients or actives. They are used as emulsifiers, foamers, defoamers, dispersants, lubricants, solubilizers, stabilizers, viscosifiers, diluents, wetting agents etc.
