They are stable in mild acids, alkalis and electrolytes and do not react with ionic ingredients or actives. They are used as emulsifiers, foamers, defoamers, dispersants, lubricants, solubilizers, stabilizers, viscosifiers, diluents, wetting agents etc.   Many consumers may notice some cosmetics contain a kind of chemical substance called "polysorbate 80", but they do not know the effect and function of this substance and would like to know whether the product containing polysorbate 80 is good or not.   Polysorbate 80 is a yellow viscous liquid mainly used as the surfactant and emulsifier in cosmetics and skin care products.
